Gators Defeat Southeastern Louisiana 82-43

The Florida men’s basketball team had an easy win Wednesday night against Southeastern Louisiana, with a final score of 82-43. This brings the Gators record to 8-1 on the season with their only loss to Arizona last weekend 65-64. Gators Head Coach Billy Donovan says they didn’t look at this game as a “bounce-back” from Saturday’s game against Arizona because the team “bounced-back” at Sunday’s practice.

Senior guard Mike Rosario led the team with a career high 20 points, including six rebounds and four assists against the Lions. Center Patric Young scored 10 points and five rebounds, and point guard Scottie Wilbekin racked up nine points, six rebounds and four assists. Donovan says, “Rosario has been more disciplined, more responsible and more accountable, and I feel like I know what I’m getting from him every day.” Rosario is averaging 16.6 points per game including Wednesday night’s matchup as he finished the night with 61 percent shooting, making 8 of 13 shots, including 4 of 8 from 3-point range.

With Rosario in the spotlight, the Gators leading scorer on the season,  Senior Guard Kenny Boynton struggled, putting down only 1 of 7 from the field and has only hit just three of his last 22 shots from behind the arc. Donovan says, ” He has to fight through this.”

The Gators next play Saturday at Kansas State. Tip-off is set for 8pm.
