Three titles in four years.
Those are the numbers for the Alabama football program after it overwhelms Notre Dame 42-14 Monday night to win the BCS national championship.
It wasn’t close from start to finish as Alabama scored on its first drive and just steamrolled to the win. The SEC has now won seven BCS football titles in a row.
In fact, Alabama scored on its first three drives of the night to essentially put the game away. Quarterback A.J. McCarron threw four touchdown passes and offensive MVP running back Eddie Lacy ran for 140 yards and two scores as well.
Meanwhile Notre Dame could not tackle anyone for most of the night and curiously tried to throw the football a lot with a freshman quarterback, trying to take advantage of a supposedly vulnerable Alabama secondary but at least on this night, that strategy did not work.
Notre Dame did not score until Alabama had built up an insurmountable 35-0 lead as Alabama totally dominated the game.
