Recruiting never takes a day off. The Florida coaching staff proved that true as everyone begins to focus on the 2013 class (with national signing day a month away), Florida added its fourth commit for 2014.
Defensive back Duke Dawson, a player out of Dixie County High School, looks to add to an already deep backfield coming in the year before him. Dawson is preceded by a DB class headlined by Vernon Hargreaves III and Marcell Harris (Dawson’s cousin).
Despite that, Dawson’s head coach at Dixie County Brent Wilkerson says that this defensive back can make an impact because he is a well rounded player.
This commitment has been a long time coming, according to Wilkerson.
But Dawson didn’t make it easy for Gator fans at home. Dawson initially put on a Florida State Seminoles shirt, and did the Seminole chop. FSU was the other school in the running for Dawson, but he then went on to put on a Gator shirt and did the Gator chomp.
Overall, Wilkerson says that Dawson is exactly what you’re looking for in a football player.
