The Kentucky Wildcats will open up conference play on the road for the fourth time in the last 10 years and the second time in the John Calipari Era with a date at Vanderbilt tonight.
Last year, Kentucky defeated Vanderbilt twice. This year, the Wildcats enter conference play with a 9-4 mark, including a 90-38 win over Eastern Michigan in their last game. The Commodores bring a 6-6 record into league play, including a 64-50 win over William & Mary in their most recent outing. Kentucky has a 136-45 record against Vanderbilt all time but Vanderbilt is 6-3 against the Wildcats in the last nine meetings at Memorial Gym.
The last time these teams met it was for the SEC Tournament Championship in New Orleans in a game Vanderbilt won 71-64. Kentucky head coach John Calipari says his young squad cannot focus on what happened last year.
This game will mark the end of the first games played in men’s SEC hoops play this season.
