Gator Gymnastics Travels to LSU Tonight

The  third ranked Gator gymnastics team travels to LSU to take on the eighth ranked Tigers tonight.  LSU is the first ranked team Florida will face this year and is the start of nine meets versus teams ranked in the preseason Top 25.

After coming off a big opening win against Ball State University last week, freshman Bridget Sloan was awarded the SEC Freshman Gymnast of the Week. In her first event as a Gator, Sloan stuck her vault for a 9.925.  Gator coach Rhonda Faehn talks about Sloan’s adjustment to collegiate gymnastics.

LSU is also coming off a big week, with a 196.075-194.975 win over North Carolina State,  the highest season-opening total in LSU history.  Sophomore Rheagan Courville won three titles on beam (9.875), floor (9.975) and all-around (39.50), winning the SEC Gymnast of the Week award.  Faehn says that traveling to LSU will be difficult but a great test for the team.

The meet will air tape-delayed on SUN Sports Jan.  19 at 5 p.m.  After taking on LSU, the Gators will return home for meets against Missouri and Auburn.
