** The New Orleans Saints have fired defensive coordinator Steve Spagnuolo after just one season. The Saints regressed badly defensively last season.
** In college football, another recruiting weekend for the Gators starts today but one member of the 2013 class will not be in the class as linebacker James Hearns from Tallahassee tells the Tallahassee Democrat that Florida told him he would not be part of the class.
** In the NBA, the Orlando Magic lose to Toronto 97-95 while two former Gators, Joakim Noah of the Chicago Bulls and David Lee of Golden State are selected as All Star reserves.
** The Gator baseball team begins practices today for the upcoming 2013 season which begins next month.
** The Atlanta Braves reunite the Upton brothers as Justin Upton is acquired from the Arizona Diamondbacks for Martin Prado, a pitcher, and some minor leaguers. B.J. Upton was signed to a free agent deal this past winter.
** In SEC men’s hoops, Ole Miss is off to a 5-0 SEC start for the first time since the 1930’s after beating Tennessee 62-56 Thursday night.
