** According to Gatorzone.com, the Gator men’s basketball team will have injured players Will Yeguete, Michael Frazier II and Casey Prather all cleared for practice today. This means there’s a good chance all could play Saturday when Florida hosts Alabama in a key SEC matchup.
** Alabama has dismissed the four freshmen football players who were arrested on various charges a while back; a judicial review of the incidents determined that the students should be dismissed from school.
** In SEC men’s hoops, Kentucky is only one game behind Florida in the league race after beating Mississippi State 85-55. Ole Miss beat Texas A&M 832-73; Vanderbilt nipped Georgia 63-62 and LSU topped Arkansas 65-60. Missouri and South Carolina play tonight.
** The San Francisco 49ers trade quarterback Alex Smith to Kansas City for a second round pick and a later conditional draft choice.
** The Gator softball team is now 17-1 after rallying to defeat USF 3-1 Wednesday. Florida hosts a tournament this weekend.
** After winning its last time out, the Orlando Magic go back to its losing ways, dropping a 125-101 decision to Sacramento. The Magic have lost 29 of its last 33 games.
