Gator Softball Gets Set to Host Three Game Tournament

The fourth-ranked Gator softball team returns home for the first time in two weeks and for only the second time this season.

Florida will play host to Drake, Mount St. Mary’s, FAMU, and Presbyterian at Katie Seashole Pressly Stadium all weekend. The Gators are coming off a 3-1 come-from-behind victory over USF on Wednesday.

Florida enters this weekend 17-1 overall and 6-0 at home. Gator freshman Kelsey Stewart leads the way for the Orange and Blue, batting an impressive .433 with 29 hits, three homers, 16 RBI and 16 steals in 16 attempts in the stolen base department. Gator coach Tim Walton says Stewart has been an impact player all season long.

The Gators are also red hot in the circle, combining for 128 strikeouts and a cool 1.26 earned run average. Sophomore pitcher/first baseman Lauren Haeger is 5-0 on the season with a 1.44 ERA. Haeger has allowed only seven earned runs and 13 walks in 34 innings of action. Walton says Haeger has been great and is always a option to take the mound.

Florida begins SEC play next week.
