** The NCAA men’s basketball tournament is officially underway with two games played last night; North Carolina A&T advances to play top-seed Louisville after beating Liberty 73-72, and Saint Mary’s moves on to face Memphis after beating Middle Tennessee 67-54.
** Kentucky is gone from the NIT. The defending NCAA champions had their season end with a loss to Robert Morris 59-57. Alabama advances after beating Northeastern 62-43; tonight, Tennessee faces Mercer.
** Another streak to talk about in the NBA; the Denver Nuggets have won 13-straight games after whipping Oklahoma City 114-104 Tuesday. Miami goes for 24 straight tonight against Cleveland. Orlando was whipped 95-73 by Indiana.
** The New York Giants have signed former Gator wide receiver Louis Murphy and Jacksonville signs offensive lineman Brad Meester.
** UF gets a 2014 verbal commitment in offensive lineman Joseph Paul from New Orleans.
** The World Baseball Classic goes to the Dominican Republic; they beat Puerto Rico 3-0 in the final.
