The Florida baseball team hosts the UCF Knights Tuesday night at McKethan Stadium. The Gators are 13-16 this season and are 4-5 in SEC play. The Knights are 18-11 overall and 4-2 in conference play.
Florida is coming off its first SEC series win, taking two out of three against Ole Miss. UCF lost their weekend series to Southern Miss.
Florida has taken seven of the past 11 meetings against UCF. Florida head coach Kevin O’Sullivan is 5-2 against UCF, going 3-1 in Gainesville and 2-1 in Orlando.
Florida beat UCF 5-3 on February 19 in Orlando. Four different players turned in multiple-hit efforts to lead Florida to the win. Gator sophomore Zack Powers went 3-for-4 with his third homer, and senior Vickash Ramjit went 2-for-5 with a home run of his own.
Florida freshmen Richie Martin and Harrison Bader went a combined 5-for-10 at the top of the order. Freshman left-hander Parker Danciu got the win after working 3.1 innings, scattering five hits and giving up two runs. UF sophomore Johnny Magliozzi retired all five Knights he faced to earn the save.
The Gators won 8-0 the last time these two in-state foes met in Gainesville on Feb. 22, 2012. The Gators lead the all-time series 22-15 and have a 14-10 record in Gainesville.
UF is 6-7 against Sunshine State opponents this season. The Gators are 1-0 vs. UCF, 0-3 vs. FGCU, 0-2 vs. FSU, 2-0 vs. Jacksonville, 2-1 vs. Miami and 1-1 vs. North Florida.
