Cullen, Bruns lead UF Lacrosse past Johns Hopkins 19-9

Playing after their first loss of the 2013 season, the third ranked Gators lacrosse team (14-1, 2-1 ALC) jumped all over ALC opponent Johns Hopkins (7-5, 1-2 ALC) 19-9 on a beautiful Saturday afternoon in Gainesville.

Seniors Kitty Cullen and Ashley Bruns led the way for the Gators with seven and six points eache, both scoring five goals in the win to help Florida rebound after their first loss of the season to Penn State last weekend. Gator coach Amanda O’Leary says she was worried about a letdown, but her team came out tough.

Florida improved to 4-1 all time vs. the Blue Jays, and recorded its largest margin of victory in the effort. The Gators have been all about unselfishness this season, different players leading the Gators in scoring seemingly every time out, and while Gabi Wiegand and Shannon Gilroy chipped with four and two goals respectively, it was Cullen and Bruns who stole the show on Saturday.

Florida has only two games left in it’s regular season before the ALC Tournament, and travels to Vanderbilt next Saturday to take on the Commodores. Opening draw is set for 2pm.
