Florida baseball returns to the Mac tonight to start a three game series against South Carolina.
The Gamecocks finished as runner-up in the College World Series last season to the Arizona Wildcats and lost the SEC Tournament to the Gators. During the regular season, Florida took two of three from the Gamecocks in Columbia.
The Gators are coming off of a 4-3 win at in-state rival Florida State Tuesday night, breaking a 3-3 tie in the ninth for the win. USC also found itself fighting for a win in the ninth defeating The Citadel 6-5 with a walk-off homer by Joey Pankake at Carolina Stadium. South Carolina is now 27-7 on the season and 8-4 in SEC play and the Gators are now 16-18 and 5-7 in the SEC.
Gator catcher Taylor Gushue says it doesn’t matter what the Gamecocks did last season.
Gushue says the team knows what it needs to do to get a win against USC.
Junior Jonathon Crawford is starting on the mound for Florida and says he needs to attack the hitters to get a win.
Tonight’s game can be heard on Country 103-7 the Gator with coverage starting at 7:25.
