The third ranked LSU Tiger baseball team brought its big bats to Baton Rouge Saturday to beat the Gator baseball team 18-6 for a sweep of their three game series. UF is now 12-12 in the SEC and 25-23 overall.
Things started out well for Florida in the first inning. With one out, Casey Turgeon singled and was tripled home by Taylor Gushue. Justin Shafer followed with a sacrifice fly to give Florida an early 2-0 lead.
But after LSU countered with three runs early against Gator starter and loser Danny Young, UF would never lead again.
An eight run sixth inning, highlighted by a JaCoby Jones grand slam put the game away for LSU (43-6, 19-5 SEC) as the Tigers rolled with a 19 hit attack.
Florida did add four runs in the ninth inning but by then it was too little, too late.
UF has just eight games left in the season and five of them come this week at home starting with Florida A&M on Monday.
