** Huge night in men’s college basketball Tuesday as powerhouses Michigan State and Kentucky and Duke and Kansas met on the same night. The Spartans held off Kentucky 78-74 and Kansas beat Duke 94-83 with lots of potential NBA talent playing for all the teams.
** Fall signing period of men’s Division I basketball starts today and Florida is expected to sign its three verbal commitments in the 2014 class. Guards Brandone Francis and Chris Chiozza and forward Devin Robinson are expected to sign their letters of intent.
** LeBron James scores 33 points to lead the Miami Heat to a 118-95 win over the Milwaukee Bucks.
** Former UF administrator and current Virginia Tech athletic director Jim Weaver announced his resignation, because of health reasons. He has been with the school for 16 years.
** Pittsburgh Pirates manager Clint Hurdle and Cleveland Indians manager Terry Francona have been named Managers of the Year in MLB news. Both managers led their teams to the playoffs.
