Here is our Tuesday Sports Update…
** Several media outlets report today that wide receiver Ryan Sousa has now verbally committed to the University of Florida, switching his commitment from FSU. Sousa is a 6′ 180 pound receiver who becomes UF’s 16th verbal in the 2014 class.
** Gain a player, lose a player. The Gator football team loses junior defensive back Loucheiz Purifoy to the NFL Draft. Fellow cornerback Marcus Roberson is also considering a leap to the NFL.
** USC has filled its football coaching vacancy with Washington coach Steve Sarkisian, who was also a long time assistant with the Trojans under Pete Carroll. Interim coach Ed Orgeron resigned after Sarkisian accepted the job.
** Wake Forest is also looking for a new football coach after long time coach Jim Grobe resigned after a 4-8 season.
** In Monday Night Football, the Seattle Seahawks rip the New Orleans Saints 34-7.
** The Orlando Magic lose to the Washington Wizards 98-80 as Trevor Ariza scores 24 for the Wizards.
** Four Gators were named to the All-SEC First Team in volleyball. Senior Chloe Mann, junior Taylor Unroe, sophomore Ziza Recek and freshman Alex Holston are all honored.
