The NBA playoffs the NHL playoffs, baseball results, and an honor for a former Gator and more in our Tuesday Sports Update…
** The NBA playoffs saw more good games on Monday. Oklahoma City was upset by Memphis in overtime 111-105 and that series is tied 1-1. The LA Clippers even their series with Golden State with a win at home as well. Tonight, three games will be played.
** Former Gator Joakim Noah is named the NBA’s Defensive Player of the Year. Noah’s Bulls are in the playoffs and play at home against Washington tonight.
** Three coaching changes in the NBA; New York fires Mike Woodson; Utah will not bring back Tyrone Corbin and Minnesota coach Rick Adelman retires. ESPN reports the Timberwolves are interested in Gator coach Billy Donovan, among others, to fill their vacancy.
** The NHL playoffs continue. Pittsburgh, Minnesota, Chicago and Dallas get wins last night. Tonight, four games including Tampa Bay at Montreal where the Lightning need to win or be eliminated.
** In the MLB world, Atlanta gets a walk off homer from Evan Gattis to down Miami 4-2. Former Gator pitcher Nick Maronde was called up to the big leagues from Triple A by the LA Angels.
** The Boston Marathon is history and the race is won by an American male for the first time since 1983.
