The Miami Marlins and the Tampa Bay Rays are having to come back from losses as they begin play this weekend.
The Rays lost 9-7 to Minnesota to drop their record to 10-12 and the Marlins fell to 10-12 after losing to Atlanta 3-1. Marlins starting pitcher Nathan Eovaldi said he thought he had a good performance.
“Not necessarily just go out there and compete. I feel like I know these guys pretty well and that they would locate my pitches.”
Rays manager Joe Maddon says his team has to keep fighting.
“You know when you play a game like that and you lose it but you pitched and played so well to win the game, we should have won that game we lost two games during this home stand that we could have put in the win column and those are the type of things that you really have get beyond.”
Tampa Bay begins a weekend series with the Chicago White Sox while Miami starts a series with the New York Mets on Friday.
