The Florida baseball team took care of business in Tuscaloosa Friday night, beating the Crimson Tide 7-3. The win is the ninth consecutive conference win for the Gators. Florida starting pitcher Logan Shore yet again led the way for the Orange and Blue, dealing six shutout innings in route to his sixth victory of the season. Eric Hanhold finished the deal for the Gators, earning a save after closing out Alabama with two solid innings on the hill. Florida Head Coach Kevin O’Sullivan was impressed with the team’s pitching. “It’s pretty incredible what Logan (Shore) has been able to do on Friday nights in the league. He goes out and competes as a freshman against some of the best hitters in the country and continues to get outs. It’s special to watch.” It was a slow start offensively for both teams, but Florida managed to break through in the fifth. Buddy Reed broke
a 0-0 tie when he reached home after an error from Alabama’s first basemen on a Casey Turgeon bunt. Florida piled on more runs late in the game, scoring a total five runs in the seventh, eighth, and ninth innings. Casey Turgeon reached base four times in the game, driving in one and scoring a run of his own. Gator center fielder Harrison Bader continued his success at the plate, going 2-4 with two RBIs. Florida will look to take the second game of this series Saturday afternoon at 4. You can tune into the Gator IMG Sports Network where Jeff Cardozo and Steve Russell will have the call.
