The SEC Softball Tournament is underway, the NFL Draft finally starts and playoffs and more in our Thursday Sports Update…
** The SEC Softball Tournament is underway in Columbia, South Carolina. Kentucky beat Mississippi State 4-3 and Auburn takes out South Carolina 7-5. Florida plays today against Georgia at 4pm.
** The Big 12/SEC Challenge will be played again next year in men’s college basketball and Florida will face Kansas.
** The Tournament Players Championship begins today on the PGA Tour in Ponte Vedra Beach. No Tiger Woods but three Gators (Brian Gay, Billy Horschel, Camilo Villegas) are in the field.
** In baseball action, St.Louis rips Atlanta 7-1 to send the Braves to their eighth loss in their last nine games. The Braves are off today. Miami completes a sweep of the Mets with a 1-0 win; the Marlins are in San Diego today to start a series. Baltimore downs Tampa Bay 4-3 and the teams will play again tonight.
** In the NBA Playoffs, Indiana squares its series with Washington with an 86-82 win over Washington as Roy Hibbert breaks out of a shooting slump and scores 28 points. Oklahoma City evens it series with the LA Clippers with a 112-101 win. Two more games tonight.
** In the NHL Playoffs, Pittsburgh beats the New York Rangers 4-2 to go up 3-1 in the series. Tonight, Boston at Montreal and Anaheim at LA.
