A couple of former Gator baseball players get called up to the big leagues; the Miami Heat move on and much more in our Thursday Sports Update…
** The Miami Marlins called up former Gator pitcher Anthony DeSclafani to the big leagues from AA Jacksonville and he got the start and win in a 10-3 victory over the LA Dodgers Wednesday night. DeSclafani pitched six innings, giving up two runs and he also added a hit as well in the win.
** The Tampa Bay Rays called up former Gator infielder Cole Figueroa to fill the roster spot of Ben Zobrist who has injured his thumb.
** The Gator women’s tennis team is in NCAA Tournament action today in the Sweet 16; the Gator men will be in action tomorrow also in the Sweet 16.
** The Miami Heat move on to the Eastern Conference finals after rallying to beat Brooklyn 96-94 last night in Miami. The Heat will now face the winner of the Indiana-Washington series.
** San Antonio moves on to the NBA’s Western Conference final after beating Portland last night to win the series 4-1. The Spurs will play the winner of the LA Clippers-Oklahoma City Thunder series.
** In the NHL playoffs, the LA Kings beat Anaheim last night to force a Game 7 in that series. And Montreal beats Boston in Game 7 to move on to the Eastern Conference finals against the New York Rangers.
