The Florida Gators play for a national title in softball; NCAA Baseball Regionals to still be decided and more in our Monday Sports Update…
** The Florida softball team plays for a national championship starting tonight against SEC foe Alabama in a best two out of three tournament. The Gators are trying to win their first ever national title in softball as the College World Series resumes in Oklahoma City.
** Oklahoma State, Louisville, Vanderbilt, TCU, Pepperdine, Virginia and Maryland are the only teams so far to advance to Super Regional play after the NCAA Baseball Regionals this weekend. Many deciding games will be played today with Miami, LSU, Ole Miss, Texas A&M, Alabama and Mississippi State among the teams that could make the Super Regionals with wins today.
** The NHL’s Stanley Cup Final is now set after the Los Angeles Kings beat the Chicago Black Hawks 5-4 in overtime in Game 7 of the Western Conference Final.
** The French Open tennis tournament continues today with men’s top seed Rafael Nadal scheduled to be in action as well as Andy Murray. The highest seeded women’s player in action will be four seed Simona Halep.
** In baseball, the Atlanta Braves complete the sweep of the Miami Marlins with a 4-2 win and the Tampa Bay Rays were swept by Boston after losing 4-0. Today, Tampa Bay is at Miami while the Braves are off.
** Jimmie Johnson wins the NASCAR race in Dover, Delaware on Sunday, beating out Brad Keselowski and Matt Kenseth.
