The Miami Heat and the Orlando Magic are assessing their moves today after completion of the NBA Draft last night.
Orlando had the fourth overall pick and selected forward Aaron Gordon from Arizona and with the 12th pick selected forward Dario Saric. However, Orlando traded his rights to Philadelphia in exchange for guard Elfrid Payton from Louisiana-Lafayette.
The Magic did not have a second round selection.
Miami engineered a trade to get guard Shabazz Napier from Charlotte while Miami selected P.J. Hairston and gave his rights to Charlotte. In the second round Miami took another guard as well.
Several SEC players were selected in the NBA Draft, led by Julius Randle of Kentucky, taken by the LA Lakers with the seventh pick. James Young of Kentucky went 17th to Boston as the only other SEC player taken in the first round.
Tennessee’s Jarnell Stokes, LSU’s Johnny O’Bryant III, Missouri’s Jordan Clarkson and Tennessee’s Jordan McRae were selected in the second round.
