** The quarterfinals for the World Cup are now set after the U.S. was beaten 2-1 yesterday by Belgium. France faces Germany, Brazil takes on Colombia, Argentina faces Belgium and Netherlands faces Costa Rica.
** At Wimbledon, Maria Sharapova and Rafael Nadal are out after losing yesterday. Novak Djokovic and defending men’s champ Andy Murray are scheduled to play today.
** In baseball, suddenly hot Tampa Bay stays that way with a 2-1 over the New York Yankees. Atlanta has won six straight after beating the New York Mets 5-4 and Florida beat Philadelphia 5-4. Those same match ups take place today.
** Former Gator pitcher Kevin Chapman has been called up to the big leagues by the Houston Astros. Chapman has had big league experience before.
** A nice honor for former Gator softball pitcher Hannah Rogers as she is named the SEC Female Athlete of the Year after helping lead the Gators to a national championship.
