Florida Soccer Returns Home

The Florida soccer team, ranked #15 in the nation, has two home games scheduled for the weekend. They will host #13 Georgia this Friday and follow up against the Missouri Tigers on Sunday.

The Gators (6-2) are undefeated at home thus far with wins over Miami and USF earlier in the season. They come off of a 2-1 win over Alabama in their SEC opener, and look to continue their success in conference play this weekend. Savannah Jordan leads the team with five goals, while Tessa Andujar is the team’s assist leader with four.

Georgia (6-1-1) also comes off a win over an SEC opponent, beating Vanderbilt 3-1 earlier this week. They come into the game Friday on a five game win streak. Gabby Seiler and Marion Crowder will be the players to watch for as the two lead the Bulldogs with five goals apiece.

In the last match between the two, Florida beat the Bulldogs 5-1. Despite winning big a year ago Florida head coach Becky Burleigh isn’t taking Friday’s opponent lightly.

“[In] our game against Georgia last year, the score was definitely not indicative of the game,” says Burleigh. “We know they’re going to be a handful and I think they’re playing some really good soccer right now.”

Missouri (6-1-2) also finds itself on a win streak. Winning its last four games, the Tigers will travel to South Carolina Friday before facing the Gators Sunday at Donald R. Dizney Stadium. Almost more intriguing than their current win streak is Missouri’s road record this season. The Tigers are 2-0 on the road and will look to add another win to that record when they travel to Gainesville this weekend.

Missouri’s Grant Taylor leads the Tigers with six goals so far this season. Kaysie Clark leads the SEC in assists with a total of eight and will certainly be a player to watch on Sunday.

Catch the Florida vs. Georgia game on the SEC Network on Friday at 7pm and tune into ESPNU Sunday to catch all the Florida vs. Missouri action.
