Buchholz Travels To Take On Fletcher, Thursday Night Football Results, More High School Football Games Tonight

The Buchholz Bobcats (3-4, 1-1) look to move closer to securing a playoff spot tonight when they travel to Neptune Beach to battle the Fletcher Senators (4-3, 1-1).

The Bobcats have an opportunity to have surpass their win total from last year with a victory but they’ll be challenged by a Fletcher squad that has double-digit win totals the last three years.

“(Fletcher is) big up front, they’ve got three or four kids not a lot of people have. They have a receiver committed to Florida,” said coach Buchholz head coach Mark Whittemore, referring to Fletcher senior wideout Kalif Jackson. “They’re going to have a running back that is above-average. They’ve had some of the best running backs in high school history here in the state.”

Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.

** The Eastside Rams took care of business against the Dunnellon Tigers with a 31-21 victory at Citizen’s Field. Rams improve to 3-5 and 3-2 in district play. However, the Rams have been eliminated from playoff contention after North Marion won their district game against Santa Fe 35-28 in a triple overtime thriller.  The Colts clinch a 5A-5 playoff berth along with the undefeated Suwannee Bulldogs.

** The Gainesville Hurricanes (4-3, 3-0) travel to Inverness to take on the Citrus Hurricanes (4-3, 1-1) in a district game. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.

** The Dixie County Bears (6-0, 2-0) host the Newberry Panthers (4-4, 2-1) in district action. Kickoff coming at 7:30 p.m.

** The Chiefland Indians (4-4, 1-1) travel for a district game to take on the Union County Tigers (5-2, 1-1). Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m.

** The Lafayette Hornets (4-3, 1-1) travel to take on the P.K. Younge Blue Wave (4-2, 0-2). Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m.
