Gator men’s basketball begins its season, Gator soccer out of the SEC Tournament, NFL, college football, NBA and more in our Thursday Sports Update…

** The Florida men’s basketball team begins its season tonight with an exhibition game at home against Barry College; game time is 7 pm.

** The Florida soccer team awaits its NCAA Tournament seed after losing in the SEC Tournament yesterday to Tennessee.   The teams tied 1-1 but the Vols advance on penalty kicks.

** The Santa Fe College volleyball team starts play today in the state tournament; its first game will be against Daytona State College.

** In the NFL, Cleveland is at Cincinnati tonight in an AFC Central showdown.

** In other NFL news, San Francisco 49ers running back Marcus Lattimore has retired at the age of 23; the former South Carolina star never fully recovered from two knee injuries he suffered in college.

** College football tonight has Clemson and Wake Forest playing in an ACC game.

** In the NBA, Orlando gets its first win over winless Philadelphia 91-89 and Miami loses to Charlotte 96-89.
