The Florida Gator soccer team season sadly came to an end on Friday as they lost to Stanford in the Elite Eight of the NCAA Tournament. The Gators finished off their season at 17-4-2.
Florida also did well in the SEC, finishing second overall behind champion Texas A&M. Five Gators were named All-SEC including Savannah Jordan, Tessa Andajur, Claire Falknor, Havana Solaun and Christen Westphal.
Looking forward to next season, head coach Becky Burleigh has some talent to replace with eight graduating seniors. She credits this senior class for laying the ground work of great teams to come.
“The most unfortunate part of the loss is this particular team being together. This is just the start of something really big for us. I think this senior class and this team in particular has really laid the groundwork for future teams. They are the standard going forward.”
Burleigh goes on to state how proud she is of this team and the way it played.
“We’re really proud of the way the team played. I think its a tribute to this group being able to bring that energy and bring that connection, they are the standard.”
