** The Gator volleyball team plays in the NCAA Tournament Sweet 16 today against Illinois, trying to stay alive in the tournament.
** The Gator men’s basketball team hosts Texas Southern tonight as the Gators look for their second straight win.
** In the NFL, Arizona improves to 11-3 with a 12-6 win over the St.Louis Rams. The Cardinals lost their second quarterback, Drew Stanton, to injury.
** Oregon quarterback Marcus Mariota wins three awards at the annual Home Depot College Football Awards. He was named the National Player of the Year, won the Maxwell Award for best all around player and the Davey O’Brien Award for top quarterback.
** Mariota, running back Melvin Gordon and wide receiver Amari Cooper are up for the Heisman Trophy, which will be awarded on Saturday.
** Wisconsin is reportedly moving quickly to hire a new football coach; reports say current Pittsburgh coach Paul Chryst will be the new Badgers coach.
** Baseball’s Winter Meetings are over in California and two former Gator pitchers get traded to the Cincinnati Reds. Jonathon Crawford comes over from Detroit and Anthony DeSclafani comes to the Reds from the Marlins.
