** The Florida women’s basketball team returns to action tonight hosting Ole Miss. Florida is 1-1 in conference play. You can hear the game live at 6:45 pm on ESPN 850 WRUF.
** The Gator men’s basketball team beats South Carolina 72-68 (see related story) but the Gators will see if they get two suspended players…Jon Horford and Zach Hodskins back for Saturday’s game against Mississippi State after they were left home last night for conduct detrimental to the team.
** Florida will add yet another transfer to the team next year when 6’10” center Schuyler Rimmer is added to the team. He is enrolled in school but will not be able to play until after the fall semester next year.
** In SEC men’s hoops last night, Tennessee downs Mississippi State 61-47; tonight, LSU is at Missouri.
** In the NBA, Orlando loses at Denver 93-90. The Magic are off today while Miami is at Portland.
** In college football, new Florida coach Jim McElwain spoke to members of the media for an extended time on Wednesday. Nothing much new but McElwain said he will take his time in finding a wide receivers coach, the last addition to his new staff.
** Georgia has announced that former Gator Brian Schottenheimer will be the school’s new offensive coordinator. Schottenheimer will leave the NFL’s St.Louis Rams where he was the OC there.
** FSU quarterback Jameis Winston announces he will turn pro after his junior season and enter the NFL Draft.
