Today we’ll talk hoops, football, playoffs, hires and Gator sports too in our Friday Sports Update…

** The Florida women’s basketball team falls 64-57 at home to Ole Miss as the Gators are now 1-2 in SEC play; next a road trip to Missouri Sunday.

** The Florida men’s basketball team tries to go 2-0 in league play when it hosts Mississippi State Saturday.

** In men’s SEC play Thursday, Missouri rallies to beat LSU 74-67 in overtime as those teams open SEC action.

** The new Gator football assistant coaches have been introduced to the media over the past couple of days; defensive staff yesterday and today, the offensive staff gets its turn.

** Former Gator defensive coordinator D.J. Durkin is officially hired by Michigan to be their defensive coordinator, the first hire for new coach Jim Harbaugh.

** The NFL playoffs resume this weekend with four games on the road to the Super Bowl.

** The Tampa Bay Bucs hire former Atlanta Falcons offensive coordinator Dirk Koetter for the same role with the Bucs.
