National Signing Day, a tough loss for Florida men’s basketball, and a former Gator assistant gets a new gig in our Wednesday Sports Update…

** National Signing Day is finally here and ESPN 850 will have live coverage of Florida football coach Jim McElwain’s press conference to talk about the 2015 class today at 3:30 pm.

** A former Florida football assistant gets his first head coaching job in the NFL as Dan Quinn was formally introduced as the new head coach of the Atlanta Falcons.

** The Florida men’s basketball team falls at Vanderbilt 67-61 to fall to 5-4 in SEC play.   Florida next plays at home Saturday against unbeaten Kentucky.

** Speaking of Kentucky, the Wildcats beat Georgia 69-58 to stay unbeaten.   Elsewhere in the SEC, Mississippi State wins at Tennessee 71-66 and Arkansas drubs South Carolina 75-55.   Tonight, Ole Miss plays Texas A&M while Alabama faces Missouri.

** The top ranked and defending national champion Florida softball team is getting ready to open its season Friday; the Gators will be in a tournament in Tampa.
