With the season winding down quickly, Florida women’s basketball coach Amanda Butler and her Gators (12-15, 4-10 SEC) head into their last road game of the regular season Thursday night against Alabama (13-16, 2-12 SEC). Florida is coming off of two painful losses. The first against Vanderbilt at home in a 76-75 overtime loss, and the most recent, a 66-46 loss against Texas A&M.
Against the Aggies Carlie Needles did not score a single point, ending her 33 consecutive games with a basket. Haley Lorenzen and Ronni Williams were the only two Gators in double digits Sunday.
Florida is 25-29 all-time against the Crimson Tide. In Florida’s last meeting against Alabama last year, the Gators came out on top 75-67. Needles led Gator scorers with 16 points followed by Kayla Lewis with 14.
In the SEC Florida is ranked 12th out of 14 teams, only leading Alabama and Auburn. Cassie Peoples in second in the conference in assists and Needles is sixth in made three point field goals.
