The Florida baseball team is now 10-2 on the season after losing at UCF 4-3 Tuesday night in Orlando. The teams will meet again tonight in Gainesville.
In this match up of two ranked teams, UCF got on the board first against Gator starter and loser Bobby Poyner (0-1) in the fourth inning. Dylan Moore was hit by a pitch and advanced to second on an error by UF first baseman AJ Puk when he could not handle a pickoff throw by Poyner. Erik Barber singled home Moore and after a Barber stolen base, he was singled home by third baseman Tommy Williams.
Florida got a run back in the fifth on an RBI ground out by Josh Tobias but the Knights made the score 4-1 in the sixth as Williams drove in two with a double.
The Gators made it 4-3 in the seventh. After catcher Mike Rivera and pinch hitter Ryan Larson got on via singles, they were driven home by a two run double by Dalton Guthrie.
Florida blew a great chance to score runs in the eighth as Richie Martin and Harrison Bader both walked with no one out. However, JJ Schwarz tried a slash play and hit into a double play and John Sternagel flied out to end the threat.
The two teams play again today in Gainesville at 7pm.
