Gator Softball 27-0 After California Trip

March 8, 2015

The top ranked Florida softball team is now 27-0 on the season after sweeping all the games it played on a trip to California.   The most recent win is a 4-1 defeat of Fresno State on Saturday.

Florida got on the board in the first inning.  Kelsey Stewart singled and then Bailey Castro hit a two run home run.  Starting and winning pitcher Lauren Haeger hit a solo shot to give her and her team a 3-0 lead in the third inning.

The Gators would score their final run on a sacrifice by Kirsti Merritt who scored Briana Little who had led off the inning by being hit by a pitch.   It was more than enough for Haeger, who pitched a complete game.

Florida opens up SEC play with a big home series with LSU in Gainesville this weekend.
