Gator Baseball Ready to Start SEC Play

Conference play is finally here as the Florida baseball team welcomes the Tennessee Volunteers to McKethan Stadium for a three game series. Florida

comes into this game with one of its best starts in school history with a 16-2 record, while Tennessee sits at 7-6. Sophomore Logan Shore gets the nod tonight for the Orange and Blue on the mound. He’s been extremely effective this year with a 3-0 record and an earned run average of zero, which is tied for first nationally. For the Volunteers, Brett Marks will get the start (1-1, 0.79 ERA). Florida’s pitching has been dominant all around this season with a team ERA of 2.24 and Tennessee has struggled offensively at times this season as it hits .270 as a team. Volunteer head coach Dave Serrano says his team is behind where they should be but they are ready to take on Florida. “I’d say were a little bit behind at this point, which is unfortunate; we know we’re coming in to play a great opponent this weekend in Florida, but it is what it is and we’re going to come in a give the best shot we have at them.” Florida has won the last six regular-season series against the Volunteers. The Gators are reining regular season SEC champs and look to start SEC play this season with a win.
