The Florida Gator softball team is set to take on the South Carolina Gamecocks for a three-game weekend series, starting Friday night.
The Gators are coming off a close 2-1 win against UNF on Wednesday night. They are looking to improve their overall 33 and 4 record and their 5-4 SEC mark. South Carolina is only 2-7 in league play.
The Gamecocks will be traveling to Gainesville after beating the College of Charleston Wednesday night 9-1 in six innings. This brought their overall record to 26-12. The Gamecocks also swept UNF in a doubleheader last week to start a winning momentum going into the weekend series against the Gators.
Gator head coach Tim Walton says South Carolina is a good solid team.
“They have beem swinging the bat well, they scored 15 runs the last game. They are a good offensive team in right handed and left handed batters, they have a lot of speed. A good team, they beat Tennessee two out of three games. We have just been paying attention to South Carolina going into this weekend.”
Coach Walton also talked about his game plan for the upcoming series.
“With three games in two days with a double header its a bit of a different format. All in all we just need to go out and keep doing what we have been doing. We need to keep playing ball and I like the way we swung the bat against UNF.”
The first game of the series is set for 6:30 Friday night, followed by a double header on Saturday with the first game starting at 1:00.
