The Florida Gator baseball team welcomes the Stetson Hatters to McKethan Stadium Tuesday night for a mid-week matchup. This is the start of a four game home stand for the Gators, which is good news for the Orange and Blue since they are 19-3 at home this season.
These two teams faced off earlier in the season in Deland where the Gators came away with the 9-6 win on a late inning rally that included a Josh Tobias home run. Freshman Logan Browning only pitched two thirds of an inning for Florida but picked up the win, the first of his career.
Florida is coming off an SEC series against rival Missouri where they dropped two of three games to the Tigers. A couple bright spots for the Gators this past weekend included excellent play by senior Josh Tobias who went 5 for-9 over the weekend with five RBI and four extra-base hits. Sophomore first baseman Peter Alonso made his season debut on Friday after being sidelined for most of the season with a foot injury; he went 2 for-4 with a two-run double.
Taking the mound for the Gators Tuesday is junior left-hander Danny Young. Young is making his first start of the season and first start since last season’s SEC Tournament. Junior Adam Schaly is on the rubber for the Hatters.
First pitch from McKethan Stadium is set for 7pm. Tune into ESPN 850 WRUF at 6:55 for live action.
