Wednesday Sports Update (4/8)

A record night for a Gator baseball player, Gator softball, MLB, college hoops and more in our Wednesday Sports Update…

** The Gator baseball team crushes Stetson 22-2 Tuesday thanks in part to a record night for freshman JJ Schwarz who hits four homers in the game while driving in 10 runs.

** Gator softball travels to face FSU today.   Florida is coming off a weekend home sweep of South Carolina.

** Gator football held its annual Pro Day yesterday as players tried to impress NFL scouts and coaches.   Florida defensive end Dante Fowler Jr. and offensive lineman DJ Humphries are possible first round picks when the NFL Draft begins later this month.

** Congratulations to Connecticut for winning yet another women’s basketball national title after they defeat Notre Dame last night 63-53.

** In Major League Baseball, Baltimore beats Tampa Bay 6-5 and Atlanta rips Miami 12-2.

** The Miami Heat beat Charlotte 105-100 to keep their playoff hopes alive in the NBA.
