Gator Baseball Set to Open Up Series Against Bulldogs

April 17, 2015

The 7th ranked Florida baseball will look to bounce back from an extra inning loss as they head into a SEC series against Mississippi State on the road. The Gators currently have a 9-6 conference record and sit in third in the SEC East.

The Orange and Blue will send sophomore ace Logan Shore to the mound Friday night for Game One and he will oppose Bulldog southpaw Lucas Laster. Sophomore Dane Dunning will pitch Game Two for Florida and no Gator pitcher has been announced as the starter for Game Three.

Florida has been an offensive machine of late; they’ve scored 63 runs in its last five games. Freshman JJ Schwarz and junior Harrison Bader have led the offense this season with Schwarz leading the SEC in RBI’s (46) while sitting second in homers (13). Bader sits right behind him ranking second in RBI’s (43) and third in homers (11).

The last time these two teams faced each other dates back to 2013 where Mississippi State came away with the series victory in Starkeville 2-1. You can catch the call with Jeff Cardozo and Steve Russell on ESPN 850 WRUF at 7:25 tonight. Weather could be a factor all series long with rain expected all three days, especially Saturday and Sunday.
