The Florida baseball team evens its three game series at Georgia with an exciting 3-2 win on Saturday.
Florida took a 1-0 lead in the game in the third inning. Josh Tobias doubled and Harrison Bader singled him home. That lead stood up through six innings thanks to the pitching of starter AJ Puk who struck out a career high 11 while allowing no walks and just two hits.
Aaron Rhodes came in to relieve and walked the only batter he faced. Later, against reliever Bobby Poyner, freshman Mitchell
Webb had an rbi double to tie the game. Florida took a 2-1 lead when JJ Schwarz singled and Logan Browning pinch ran for him. Browning swiped second and scored on a two out single by Mike Rivera.
Georgia tied the game in the eighth on a home run. In the ninth, Richie Martin hit a one out triple and he scored on a pinch hit single by freshman Jeremy Vasquez. Georgia got two runners on in the bottom of the inning but Poyner got the final out to preserve the win.
Florida (34-13, 14-9 SEC) tries to win the series Sunday; ESPN 850 WRUF has live coverage starting at 12:55 pm.
