Gator baseball gets a win, Gator softball gets honors, possible fall out from Billy Donovan leaving and more in our Wednesday Sports Update…
** The Gator baseball team beats USF 5-1 Tuesday night to improve its record to 36-13 on the season; next up a three game series at Vanderbilt starting Thursday.
** The Gator softball team and its players receive high honors from the SEC. Lauren Haeger is the SEC Pitcher of the Year and Kelsey Stewart is named the SEC Player of the Year and four other Gators also receive honors. UF plays in the SEC Tournament Thursday.
** With Billy Donovan leaving, several media reports are saying that signee KeVaughn Allen will ask to be released from his national letter of intent from Florida. The guard is part of Florida’s 2015 class.
** In baseball, Shelby Miller throws a shutout as Atlanta downs Philadelphia 9-0. Miami edges Washington 2-1 while Tampa Bay loses 2-0 to Boston.
** In the NBA playoffs, Chicago is at Cleveland up 1-0 and the LA Clippers are at Houston up 1-0. Last night, Atlanta beat Washington 106-90 to even that series 1-1 and Memphis upsets Golden State 97-90 to even that series 1-1.
** In the NHL playoffs, the New York Rangers are at Washington tonight down 2-1 and Tampa Bay hosts Montreal up 2-0 in that series. Last night, Chicago beat Minnesota 1-0 to go up 3-0 in the series and Calgary beat Anaheim to go up 2-1.
