Gator Baseball Loses Opening Game Of Series With Vandy

May 7, 2015

The Florida baseball team drops the first game of a three game series at Vanderbilt by a score of 2-0.  The Gators are now 36-14 overall and 15-10 in the SEC while the Commodores improve to 36-14 and to 18-7 in the SEC.

The Florida starter and loser on the mound was sophomore Logan Shore, but he pitched well enough to win.   He tossed seven innings, giving up just one run on six hits.   Shore is now 6-5 on the year.   He gave up a run scoring single to Tyler Campbell in the second inning.

The Commodores pushed across an insurance run in the eighth on an RBI hit by Will Toffey off reliever Danny Young, and those runs were all Vandy starter Carson Fullmer needed, as he throws a complete game, striking out 11 and giving up just six hits and no runs.

You can hear Game 2 of the series Friday at 7:25 pm on ESPN 850 WRUF.
