The softball College World Series begins, the NBA Finals are set, another Game 7 in the NHL playoffs and baseball in our Thursday Sports Update…
** The softball Women’s College World Series kicks off today in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma with defending champion Florida facing Tennessee in the opening game. Five SEC teams are in the field.
** Florida gets a 2016 verbal football commitment from JUCO offensive lineman Branton Autry, who becomes Florida’s 12th member of the class. He’s 6’5″ and 320 pounds and had offers from Ole Miss and Arkansas among others.
** The NBA Finals are now set; Cleveland will face Golden State after the Warriors eliminate the Houston Rockets in the Western Conference Finals last night.
** Another Game 7 in the Stanley Cup playoffs in the NHL as Chicago beats Anaheim 5-2 to set up the clinching game in Anaheim in the West. The New York Rangers host Tampa Bay in Game 7 tomorrow in the East.
** In baseball, Pittsburgh sweeps Miami 5-2; Seattle sweeps Tampa Bay 3-0 and Atlanta nips the LA Dodgers 3-2. Tampa Bay and Miami are off today while Atlanta plays at San Francisco tonight.
** The French Open continues today.
** NFL player and former Gator Ray McDonald has been arrested for a second time in a week, this time for allegedly violating a restraining order in California.
