Omaha, Nebraska After flying on the private jet of the Rolling Stones to get to Omaha that only could be described as “awesome” by multiple players, the Florida baseball team has officially begun it’s final journey in the hunt for the school’s first national championship in baseball. The Gators will face Miami Saturday in their opening game of the tournament. Florida head coach Kevin O’Sullivan’s message to this team has been to relax. “This team has played tough competition and will be ready for this,” he said. The vibe you get from being around this team in Omaha is more than positive, it is excited. After talking to Saturday’s starting pitcher Logan Shore he is ready to get in the game at TD Ameritrade Park. “It’s going to be a lot of fun, but obviously I think the focus
of our team is that we are playing in Omaha. This is one of the greatest venues in college sports.” The Gators will be matching up against a Miami team on Saturday that they have seen three times this season. Shore was pulled for an injury after facing just a couple Miami batters in his outing against the Canes on that Friday night in February. Florida took two of three in that series with the Hurricanes. The pitching match up between Logan Shore and Andrew Suarez on Saturday will be one of much intrigue. Both Suarez and Shore have nine wins on the year and ironically enough are tied this year with 74 strikeouts. Offensively the Gators can do no wrong in the postseason posting an average just over nine runs a game and it’s a nine game winning streak leading up to the College World Series for the team as well. “I honestly think this could be their most talented team since I’ve been here at Miami,” Miami head coach Jim Morris said.
