O’Dome Renovations Officially Approved

September 9, 2015

The long awaited renovation project to refurbish and renovate the O’Connell Center on the University of Florida campus has been approved.

It was announced yesterday that UF had signed an agreement with Brasfield and Gorrie to renovate the facility at a cost of $64.5 million.

The construction firm of Brasfield and Gorrie is out of Birmingham, Alabama.

The University Athletic Association had originally thought the price tag for renovating the facility would be in the $45 to $50 million range.

The O’Connell Center will remain in use until all athletic seasons are finished, which will be some time in March of next year.   Pre-construction work will be done until such time as the scheduled events in the facility are completed.
