The 12th ranked Florida Gator soccer team plays host to Ole Miss this Friday in an SEC match up. Florida currently sits at 5-2 after losing their first SEC match to Texas A&M and opponent Ole Miss is 5-1-2 (0-1 SEC).
The Gators are coming off a win against Jacksonville where they scored four first half goals. Junior Savannah Jordan has scored in the last two games and leads the Gators this season in total points.
Ole Miss opened up conference play last Friday with a loss to Kentucky 4-2. The Rebels bounced back with a win at home against Louisville 2-1. Freshman CeCe Kizer leads Mississippi with seven goals and 14 points, tying Jordan for second place in scoring in the latest SEC standings.
The last time these two teams met was in Oxford in 2013 where the Gators came away with a 4-1 win. Then freshman Savannah Jordan scored a goal for the Gators in the first 16 minutes of play to open up the scoring for Florida. The Gators lead the all-time series 18-2-1.
Florida head coach Becky Burleigh says this game will be competitive.
“We’ve never had a game with them that wasn’t close, so that’s sort of what we’re expecting,” she said.
Match time from Pressly Stadium is set for 7 p.m., but you can tune into ESPN Gainesville 95.3 to hear live coverage from Adam Schick and Matthew Stubbington.
