After coming off a seven game road trip and returning home to dominate St. John’s in the O’Dome, the Gators are now preparing for their arch rival Florida State Seminoles on Sunday. The Gators are now 7-1 as they prepare for the 18th ranked Seminoles.
Middle blocker Rhamat Alhassan says the team is excited and ready for the match Sunday.
“We’re all really pumped for FSU…we’re home. It’s always a rival. It’s a big game and so we’re really excited for it. Definitely going to be fun.”
Florida coach Mary Wise says that the match against Florida State will be a good one.
“When you take a team with great talent…and that team gets to play their arch rival, you get really good stuff. That has been true of Florida State now for a long time.”
Reflecting on similar strengths, Wise says FSU can block with the best of them.
“They’re a great blocking [team]. You have two teams that love to block and they have one of the best left side hitters in the country (referring to FSU OH Nicole Walch).”
Florida is 21-5 all time against FSU at home but the nationally ranked Seminoles beat Florida in five games the last time the teams played a year ago in Tallahassee.
The Florida Gators will take on the Florida State Seminoles this Sunday in the O’Dome at 5:00 PM. Live coverage begins at 4:50 PM on ESPN Gainesville 95.3 FM.
