With both teams coming off of victories, Saturday’s match up of Alabama and Georgia has the makings of a great game. The Crimson Tide dropped an important SEC test at home against Ole Miss while the Dawgs defeated South Carolina a couple weeks ago.
Last time these two foes squared off was in the 2012 SEC Championship when the Bulldogs came oh so close to a victory against Bama. 2015 has the makings of a different story. Georgia will be riding on their home crowd that could play a key part in the game on Saturday. UGA has found a quarterback who is showing some consistency as Greyson Lambert, the Virginia transfer, has yet to throw an interception in 2015. Georgia still relies on running back Nick Chubb to carry most of the offensive load however, as he has run for 599 yards and six TDs this year.
Alabama has a fine running back of its own in Derrick Henry who already has eight touchdowns this year and you could see both teams using their stable of backs to establish the ground game. Alabama has had trouble defending spread offenses which Georgia does not run but it will be interesting to see if offensive coordinator Brian Schottenheimer adds some wrinkles to the UGA offense this week that could exploit Alabama defensive weaknesses.
This could be the SEC Game of the Week and the winner will come away with a huge victory against a tough opponent.
