Florida Basketball Preseaon Update

With less than a month away from their first home exhibition game, new Florida men’s basketball coach Mike White is preparing his team for the upcoming season. Coach White says he is happy with how the team is starting off in practice.

“Communication. I couldn’t be much more pleased. From a mental and physical stand point I’m pleased with the way that our guys have come to work, and we’ve gotten better. “

Redshirt junior DeVon Walker will be back after missing last season due to a torn ACL. In his sophomore season, he played in 35 games, averaging just over 12 points a game. Walker says the recent practices have been very intense.

“The first week under Coach White has been very competitive, very physical practices, high intensity.” Walker said. “It’s been great.”

Even though the intensity level is high in practice, there are still problems that need to be fixed in the transition game, according to White. He says there is still a lot of work that needs to be done.

“Too many turnovers right now, but have been very aggressive. Both Kasey (Hill) and Chiozza (Chris) have really pressured the basketball, have played really hard.”

The 2015-2016 season getting underway on November 5th with an exhibition game against Palm Beach Atlantic, and the regular season
