The University of Florida football team put up a game fight in Baton Rouge Saturday night but fell for the first time this season, losing to LSU 35-28.
Florida falls to 6-1 with the loss while LSU improves to 7-0.
Florida took a 7-0 lead on a touchdown pass from quarterback Treon Harris to tight end Jake McGee but the Tigers scored the next 21 points to go up 21-7. However, Harris and McGee hooked up again on a touchdown reception and Florida trailed 21-14 in the second quarter.
Another LSU score would have them up 28-14 at halftime but the Gators battled back to tie the game in the third quarter as Kelvin Taylor scored on a two yard run and freshman Antonio Callaway scored on a 72 yard punt return.
But as LSU coach Les Miles has done many times in his career, he came up with a trick play to win the game. The Tigers lined up for a fourth quarter field goal when they faked it and kicker Trent Domingue ran it in from 16 yards out.
More details on the game will come shortly.
